How are daily word sets selected?

Each day, VocOwl delivers a themed set of words curated by our team. Themes rotate daily — covering topics like travel, technology, emotions, and more — so your vocabulary grows across a wide range of contexts.

What is the difference between the three difficulty levels?

Beginner focuses on everyday vocabulary suitable for basic communication. Intermediate covers business and academic words. Advanced includes nuanced, idiomatic, and domain-specific vocabulary. You can change your level at any time in Settings.

How does the bubble game work?

The bubble game reinforces the day's words in a playful format. Words and their definitions appear inside bubbles — tap the correct match before the bubble floats off screen. It's designed to improve recall speed through repetition and time pressure.

How do audio pronunciations work?

Tap the speaker icon next to any word to hear its native English pronunciation. Make sure your device is not on silent mode. If audio does not play, check that the volume is turned up and the app has permission to use audio in your device settings.

Can I replay past word sets?

Yes. Tap the History tab to browse previously delivered word sets. You can review any past set and replay the bubble game for it.

How is my daily streak counted?

A streak day is recorded when you complete at least one full word set review for that calendar day. Missing a day resets your streak. Streaks refresh at midnight local time.

Can I use VocOwl offline?

Word sets are downloaded when the app is open and connected. Once downloaded, you can study them offline. New daily sets require an internet connection to fetch.

How do I change my difficulty level?

Go to Settings → Level and select Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. The change takes effect the next time a daily word set is delivered.

Audio is not playing or the app is crashing — what should I do?

Please try: (1) Check that your device is not on silent mode. (2) Close and reopen the app. (3) Restart your device. (4) Ensure the app is up to date via the App Store. If the issue persists, email us at contact@gzlightek.com with your device model and iOS version.

How do I cancel a subscription or request a refund?

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. Go to the App Store → your profile photo → Subscriptions to cancel. Refunds must be requested through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
